The living room in our 1948 fixer upper was terribly outdated when we bought the house in 2013. It had green carpet, antique white walls, and polystyrene ceiling tiles. The living room remodel started with the basics — uncovering and refinishing the original hardwood floors, new drywall, and new windows. I also built a new fireplace for the room.
The room took me a few tries to get it right, and at one time, I even tried to turn it into a dining room. After realizing that it works better as a living room, and then finding the perfect rug (affiliate link), things finally fell into place. You can see the whole living room remodel from start to finish below.
