This is the same view, then and now. It’s so str This is the same view, then and now. It’s so strange to me that our hallway (which is an odd rectangle hallway) is now about 36 square feet smaller than it was originally, and yet it feels so much larger now! The original hallway had not one, but TWO built-in closets (one of those closets completely blocked the view of the bathroom door), plus a separate tall storage cabinet. All of that, along with the narrow cased opening into the hallway, the dim lighting, the dingy wall color, and the green carpet, made the huge hallway feel like it was closing in on us. Now, even though we moved a wall and made the hallway 36 square feet smaller, it feels large and bright. This hand drawn wall design is one of my favorite projects, but I’m not quite sure about it as an accent wall in this room. The longer we’re in this room (temporarily using this guest bedroom as our bedroom), the more I think I just need to commit and extend the design to the other two walls. (One whole wall is closets and window.) The other two walls look so blah compared to this one, and I’m not really a fan of blah walls. 😃 Are you a yea or nay on accent walls? These aren’t quite the same angle, but close. It These aren’t quite the same angle, but close. It’s hard to remember this room before I built the fireplace (it’s fake with an electric insert) and before I made the cased opening between the living room and the kitchen. That cases opening really opened up the house, made the house feel bigger, and made the layout more efficient, all without having to leap to a full on “open concept” floor plan. ( My personal preference is separate rooms over open concept.) Sometimes it just takes one cases opening to completely change the feel of several adjoining rooms. #livingroom #livingroomdesign #kitchendesign #paintedcabinets #colorful #colormadetheroom
